I adore Pilates.
I teach Evolved or Modern Pilates utilizing Somatics (sensing the world and yourself from the inside out) for connecting my students deeply to their emotional and physical bodies. I also study breath meditation and often incorporate breathing practices from many disciplines into my sessions.
If you ask me what I do for a living, I hesitate to say Pilates Instructor, as I teach far more than that. I often explain it as a Full Embodiment Practice, and consider myself a Somatic Educator. When students study with me they get more than the Pilates Method. I look at each student’s unique needs and pull from my varied studies to support them on their journey of connecting mind and body, educating them on the bio-mechanics, somatic response patterns, as well as the Pilates Method.
Some students study the depth of the Pilates repertoire as serious students or teachers apprenticing. Others do some of the repertoire and other somatic work. And there are many students who stick with the Fundamental movements of the Method for working with injuries and pain. Each student who comes to me has unique needs for study and training. Please see my About Me page to learn more of the other things I teach, or provide (Somatics, anatomy education, Reiki sessions, ministerial work, menstrual cycle tracking, pelvic floor rebalancing, back injury support, aerial pole dance and sensuous movement, sex education).

Training:
I am fully certified in Pilates Apparatus, Matwork, and Standing Matwork through Physicalmind Institute http://www.themethodpilates.com. I also worked in a studio that certifies teachers for Physicalmind Institute and have had the pleasure of journeying with many teachers in training.
I study with Marie-Jose Blom-Lawrence when I can get down to her Long Beach studio. www.longbeachdance.com. She is a brilliant teacher. Through her I am a Balanced Body educator to certify teachers, and other MindBody people, in her SmartSpine props www.smartspine.com and tactile cuing.
I am grateful to study with Nan Feist, who is a very gifted embodiment teacher. Through her I learn many somatic pieces, Reiki, biomechanics, and psychological work. Nan and I enjoy spending time working on our theories of heat, movement, and energy work.
On occasion I take on an apprentice for Pilates. I also allow for Observation Hours with me for teachers from all methods of Pilates.
